1942 – The Cubs drop plans to play night baseball games at Comiskey Park, south side home field of the White Sox. The two Chicago clubs had been negotiating a potential deal, but the Sox politely refuse the request. Cubs had planned to host night games at Wrigley Field during the '42 season, and lighting equipment had been delivered to the ballpark at 1060 West Addison St. The equipment was donated to the war effort following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor the previous Dec. 7.
