The staff of The Journal-Press and The Dearborn County Register hauled in 15 awards, including third place for General Excellence for The Register, during the 2016 Hoosier State Press Association 2016 Better Newspaper Contest.

Both newspapers were part of the Nondalies Division II competition.

Firefighters saved a dog Tuesday morning, Nov. 29, when a residence in Moores Hill was totaled by fire, said Moores Hill Fire Chief Bobby Russell.

Gizmo, owned by the Dilts family, 16468 Manchester St., was given oxygen then taken to a veterinarian.
