ST. LEON - East Central baseball’s expectations entering the recent 2015 season weren’t overly enthusiastic, to say the least.

Senior catcher Jesse Mess led Lawrenceburg baseball and the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference in hitting in 2015, with averages of .434 and .556, respectively.

 

LAWRENCEBURG - Lawrenceburg baseball fielded one of the best young lineups in Southeastern Indiana this spring, winning 21 games and vying for conference and Class 3A sectional titles.

South Dearborn cross country coach Jeremy Baney has been running for 25 years.

After running the golf disc course at County Farm Park in Manchester he considers it “one of the top five places I have ever ran.”

East Central senior All-State catcher Savannah Sturgill, headed for NCAA Division II Urbana (Ohio) next fall, batted .522 with five home runs and 49 RBI for the 16-13 Lady Trojan softball varsity.

 

ST. LEON - East Central softball finds itself in transition after its second-straight 16-13 season this spring.

“You shut this school down we’re going to be a ghost town.”

The message was delivered crystal clear to South Dearborn school board members during a special public work session Wednesday night, June 24. Do not close Moores Hill Elementary.

Sgt. Robert L. Kirchgassner’s descendants won’t have to wonder where he served during World War II. His daughter, Rita Kirchgassner, 61, has assembled a book full of her research into her dad’s military service, including where he was when he nearly died.
