LIBERTY – Avoiding the letdown after Saturday’s upset of Batesville, East Central boys basketball pulled away after halftime to defeat a good Union County team Tuesday, 62-40.

Still climbing at 11-9 overall, coach David Disbro’s Trojans broke an 18-all tie at 1:34 before halftime to lead for the first time since junior Howie Backherms opened the game by fighting through a post double-team for the lob bucket.

“We had a good practice Monday and everybody was pretty loosey-goosey,” said Disbro. “We talked about not having a letdown. It was their Senior Night and we knew they wanted to beat a 4A team.”
