A Clay Township woman missing overnight was found safe Tuesday morning, Feb. 12, according to the Dearborn County Sheriff's Department. Blanche Cook, 78, Schmaltz Road, had walked a couple miles from her home to visit relatives on Spangler Road Monday, Feb. 11, said Dearborn County Sheriff's Sgt. Max Socks. “She left there and said she was going to check a 10-acre tract of land that she owns off Spangler Road,” said Socks. That was about 3 p.m. Several hours later her daughter found Cook was not home nor at the Spangler Road residence, and reported her missing at 6 p.m. An initial press release from Socks notes Cook has Alzheimer’s/dementia. Using an article from her home to provide her scent, Dearborn County Sheriff's Deputy Ben McBroom and K-9 Riako, a bloodhound, attempted to find a track for Cook, said Socks.
