LAWRENCEBURG – A high school football program with a longstanding tradition of a powerful running game, Lawrenceburg’s Tigers were at their best in the fall of 2012.
Thanks in large part to an all-time record 2,395-yard, 36-touchdown rushing season by All-State senior runningback Chad Banschbach, second-year coach Ryan Knigga’s team went 11-2, winning the school’s first sectional since 2005 and finishing No. 10 in the IFCA Class 2A state poll.
When success comes on that scale these days, the postseason honors lap over well into the new year. Tigers were named TriStateFootball.com’s Indiana Team off the Year in January, and, just recently, Banschbach and senior placekicker Jake Newman were Griddy Awards invitees as members of Indiana Football Digest’s Small School All-State team.
