GREENSBURG – Why Greensburg returned to claim its No. 1 spot in the state Class 3A poll last week were spelled out in capital letters for East Central boys basketball Friday.

Cruising to a 63-40 regular season final win before a packed house on Senior Night at the Pirates’ Den, coach Stacy Meyer’s club (19-1, 9-1) clinched the outright Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference title and appears headed for a lengthly postseason run.

East Central (12-10, 6-4 EIAC), which finished the night where it started, at third place in the league standings, hit a clinker after playing its best basketball the second half of the season.
