Dillsboro opened eight bids Monday, Feb. 25, for a new fire truck for Dillsboro Volunteer Fire Department, and will meet with Sparta Township and fire department representatives Saturday, March 2, said town manager Scott Fortner.

The number of bids “surprised the heck out of me,” he said. Low bidder was Towers Fire Equipment, with a bid of $376,529.
