| Aurora approves TIF districts |

Two school superintendents and a library director spoke before a resolution creating two Aurora tax increment finance districts was passed by the Aurora Redevelopment Commission. The action, which also approved economic development plans for each area, followed approval of resolutions supporting the TIFs in late January by the redevelopment commission, the Aurora Plan Commission and Aurora City Council. The unanimous vote Monday, Feb. 18, creating the districts was the final action needed, said Aurora City Attorney Jeff Stratman. While expressing his appreciation for Stratman's and Aurora Mayor Donnie Hastings' efforts to improve the area's economic viability, South Dearborn Community Schools Superintendent John Mehrle also expressed some concerns. “I'm worried about the effect it will have on assessed valuation for the schools; that's my main concern,” he said.
