|Aurora housing rehab program helps 16 families|

At its February meeting, Aurora City Council found out how many homes were rehabilitated in a recent project, chose how much money to take from its foundation fund for grants, and heard a couple requests.
The owner-occupied rehab project assisted 16 families in Aurora and Ripley County, said Kathy Kelly, fiscal manager for the Southeastern Indiana Regional Planning Commission, Versailles. SIRPC administered the project and its funding.
The project was funded with a $24,369 United States Department of Agriculture Housing Preservation grant. The target population was homeowners over 55 and/or disabled, and of those helped, three were elderly, nine were disabled and four were both. Five were below poverty level and seven were low income.
