Gobble Wobble 5K benefits food pantries
All Saints Parish of northern Dearborn County will host the inaugural Gobble Wobble 5K- Feeding the Hungry Run/Walk on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 27. All the proceeds from this event will benefit the North Dearborn and Sunman Food Pantries to help them provide food for those in need in these areas.
Father Jonathan Meyer, pastor of All Saints Parish and himself an avid runner, is coordinating a team of people who are organizing the run/walk. Father Meyer says “On Thanksgiving Day, we give thanks to God for all we have; we also spend time thinking and praying for those who have less. Everybody wants to help those in need on Thanksgiving Day; here is a way to do just that.”
The race/walk will begin and end at St. John the Baptist church parking lot in Dover, at 9 a.m. with the route being an out-and-back on Sawmill Road. People of all faiths are invited to the Run/Walk as this is not a “Catholic” event, but an opportunity for our local community to give thanks, be fit and help the hungry. Mass will be celebrated prior to the run/walk at 7:30 a.m. for those who are interested.
Registration can be completed prior to Friday, Nov. 21, and returned to the All Saints Parish office by mail or drop-off, All Saints, 25743 Ind. 1, Guilford, IN 47022. Registration entries will include a T-Shirt, food, drink, official timing and family photo booth. Cost is $25 per person, with special family rates available. Registration can also be done on race-day beginning at 7 a.m., but no T-Shirt is guaranteed.
