The discovery of a buried railroad spur will keep U.S. 50 east at Tanners Creek shut down longer than first announced, Mayor Kelly Mollaun said Monday, July 16, at the Lawrenceburg City Council meeting.
Joe Awad/The Journal-Press: Tearing out the railroad track on U.S. 50 just east of the flyover bridge in Lawrenceburg has snarled rush-hour traffic since late last week. Replacing the industrial spur, which serves the distillery, is a joint effort between Central Railroad Company and the Indiana Department of Transportation. One lane in both directions clogged up U.S. 50 from Aurora to the interstate in Greendale last week.
Single-lane restrictions will continue on U.S. 50 at Lawrenceburg for several additional days after railroad crews rebuilding an industrial spur crossing at Shipping Street uncovered a separate set of tracks.  These tracks crossing U.S.
