Cruise-In at Ripley Crossing fun for residents, participants

On Sept. 6, Ripley Crossing held their 1st Annual Cruise-In. It was a beautiful day with wonderful weather.  We had 26 cars come from all over to be on display; so clean, bright, and shiny for all to see.  The Ripley Crossing residents came out to view the cars and cast their vote on their favorite.  The memories that flooded back as they were reminiscing were so joyful.  Richard McKinley, a longtime resident, said it reminded him of when he used to work on all those kinds of cars. It was great seeing them.  The Model T was his favorite.  Trophies were given to Holli Miller’s Model T for 1st place, Charlie Moore’s ’55 Ford for 2nd place, & Jim Scott’s ’33 Buick for 3rd place.

There was also a chicken dinner, craft sale, bake sale, raffles, balloons, homemade ice cream, & door prizes. Richard Scott took us down memory lane with some great music. Deville’s & George’s pharmacies joined us and had some cool “freebies.” All proceeds from the Cruise-In were donated to the Southeastern Indiana Alzheimer’s Support Group and along with some other fundraisers, Ripley Crossing was able to present a check for $5,000 to the support group.  A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated and came to join in the fun. Our residents’ day was made and it was for a wonderful cause.
