Churches gather for palms blessing
The community is invited to mark the beginning of Holy Week, this Sunday, April 14, at a Blessing of the Palms service at 10 a.m. at the corner of Walnut and Center streets, Lawrenceburg.
The brief outdoor service will include hymns and the blessing of palms. Those gathered also will hear the story of Jesus’ joyous entry into Jerusalem when crowds greeted him with shouts of praise and spread palm branches before him.
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, a time during which Christians remember Jesus’ last days on Earth, his suffering and death, and his resurrection on Easter.
At the conclusion of the Palm Sunday service, participants are invited to continue the celebration by joining in worship at any of the participating downtown churches, including Trinity Episcopal Church, Beecher Presbyterian, and Hamline Chapel.
