Cancellations, changes, announcements
The Dearborn County courthouse and all other county-run buildings are closed to all visitors unless buy appointment. All visitor are required to sign in with name and address, call the department with which they have an appointment, and confirm the appointment still is necessary.
If a face-to-face meting is not needed or no appointment has been made, the visitor will be turned away. All visitors will be asked questions concerning exposure to the coronavirus.
State tax deadline
The Indiana Department of Revenue has extended filing and payment deadlines to align with the Internal Revenue Service. Individual tax returns and payments, along with estimated payments originally due by Wednesday, April 15, are now due on or before Wednesday, July 15. Ivy Tech Community College has closed all its buildings until further notice. The college will deliver instruction virtually wherever possible.
ReProm Dress Exchange
The Dearborn County Recycling Center ReProm Dress Exchange, Creation Station, and Drive-Thru are closed until further notice.
The Aurora Recreation and Community Center is closed. The decision will be re-evaluated Monday, March 30.
Lincoln Day Dinner
The Dearborn County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner originally planned for Friday, May 1, has been canceled.
PAWS’s rummage sale
PAWS has canceled its Spring Rummage Sale scheduled for April 17, 18 and 19. Rummage sales donations are cancelled as PAWS reassess its storage.
Alzheimer’s programs and events for April at the Batesville Masonic Lodge have been postponed. The group is looking into potential dates to reschedule programs. Anyone in need of immediate support should call the 24/7 helpline at 1-800-272-3900.
Dillsboro is making free WIFI available from anywhere in the town hall parking lot.
Just pull-in, and access to “Dillsboro Guest” will be available 24/7. The service is provided through a partnership between SEI Communications and the Town of Dillsboro. It will be available through the end of the school year.
Duke Energy has waived late payment fees and fees for returned payments for its millions of electric and natural gas customers. For residential customers, the company will also waive fees for credit and debit card payments. The company will continue to read meters in most areas and send bills. Customers should pay what they can to avoid building up large balances.
Sunman Community Park is one of five regional Internet hotspots to meet the growing demands for Internet access as a result of the coronavirus. The temporary hotspots are intended for use from the parking lots only inside vehicles. Entrance inside any building is prohibited. Go to Settings, search for Wi-Fi options, and select ETC Complimentary Hotspot. All spots are open during daylight hours. Evening hours vary by location.

The Dearborn County Regional Sewer District meeting originally scheduled for Thursday, April 2, has been canceled.
Hillforest House Museum, Aurora, is closed through April. The Titanic event has been rescheduled for September.
