Foundation donates $50,000 to help hospital campaign
The Vevay-Switzerland County Foundation, Inc., recently awarded a grant of $50,000 to the Highpoint Health Foundation’s Hearing, Helping, Healing Campaign.
Initiated in January, the campaign supports two strategic objectives: constructing a new $35 million cancer center in Dearborn County and increasing the Highpoint Health Foundation’s endowment. Groundbreaking for the new center is scheduled for later this year.
Since its public kickoff, the campaign has received strong community support, including a $5 million pledge from the City of Lawrenceburg.
“We greatly appreciate both the enthusiastic endorsement of the project by the Vevay-Switzerland County Foundation Board of Directors as well as their very significant financial contribution,” said Robert “Rocky” Schroeder, Highpoint Health Foundation Board and Highpoint Health Board of Trustees Member.
“According to a study from the Indiana State Department of Health, from 2008 to 2012 there were 139 cancer-related deaths in Switzerland County,” noted Sarah Siegrist, Highpoint Health Director of Charitable Development. “By supporting the Highpoint Health Foundation’s Hearing, Helping, Healing Campaign, the Vevay-Switzerland County Foundation will help to make cancer detection procedures, treatment and survivorship care more accessible for the residents of Switzerland County, leading overall to better outcomes.
The Vevay-Switzerland County Foundation offers grants to tax-exempt organizations for programs, including those which provide for the general welfare and improvement of citizens in the county and their descendants by providing assistance to any community project which has such aims and purposes.
Financial support from businesses, organizations, government entities and individuals from throughout the region is necessary to ensure the success of the campaign.
