Lester Miles

Lester Eugene Miles, passed away, Monday July 2, 2018, at home with his family at his side. He was born Aug. 20,1932, to Fleta and Edward Miles in Aurora, Ind. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a radio man aboard the Essex-class Aircraft Carrier, the USS Valley Forge. He went on to graduate from Indiana University with honors. Les earned his Certified Public Accountant certificate shortly thereafter. A successful career in corporate and private accounting followed. Les worked many years as controller for Castrucci Auto dealerships. He also was an accounting instructor at Ivy Tech. Les was Post Commander of American Legion Post 239. He was a Kentucky Colonial, member of the Lions Club and an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Greendale, Ind. He enjoyed golf, tennis, bridge, reading and wintering in Orange Beach, Ala. His greatest love was his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lester was preceded in death by his parents; sister Anna Mae Darnell, and brothers, Herbert Miles and Willis Miles. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Miles of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; four sons, Jeffrey (wife Nancy) Miles, Eric (wife Susan) Miles, Daniel (wife Susan) Miles, Christopher (wife Sandy) Miles; two daughters, Valerie (husband David) Doxsey and Leslie (husband Larry) Reagan, 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Family and friends were received Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Memorial services were held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Saturday, July 7, 2018.
