The importance of agriculture

Farmers, teachers, veterinarians, scientist, or home gardener all have something in common: they need agriculture in order to stay in business. In order for these jobs/hobbies to become filled, they have to be introduced to people. Kids and adults everywhere need to be aware of the world around them, which all contains agriculture. Agriculture education is the way of teaching people about this incredible industry. Each farmer feeds about 155 people (1) and there are roughly 7.4 billion people in the world today (2). Everybody relies on agriculture.

Ag classes are slowly being cut back in many school districts. The members of the school boards that decide to cut back on the technical classes don’t understand the importance of agricultural courses for some students that lack the knowledge or interest of a conventional college path, and can excel in a technical agricultural environment.
