Hard-hitting (.455, 28 RBI) South Dearborn senior third baseman Jace Leonard (33) fouls off a pitch during the Knights’ 10-6 Class 3A regional loss to No. 3 Silver Creek at the University of Evansville June 1. SD finished 20-8.

Speedy sophomore centerfielder and leadoff hitter Tobie Teke came into his own as South Dearborn’s offensive catalyst this spring, batting .418 with 32 runs scored, 19 walks and 9 steals to earn all-conference honors.


AURORA - Little went right for South Dearborn baseball during its struggling 7-18 season of 2018.

South Dearborn High School baseball senior graduate Jace Leonard (center) recently committed to Ivy Tech Community College Northeast, in Fort Wayne. Joining him were parents Angie and Rick Leonard. Jace earned All-Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference honors at third base and as a pitcher for the EIAC and Class 3A sectional champion Knights. Ivy Tech’s Titans, coached by Lance Hershberger, finished 33-14 this past season and compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region XII. (SD Athletics)

MADISON - They’ve played on the same baseball diamond for years, as both Aurora Little League teammates and rivals.
