17TH KNIGHT FLIGHT 5K OPENS SIRC-IT SATURDAY

AURORA - South Dearborn High School's 17th annual Knight Flight 5K Run/Walk on the Ohio River side in downtown Aurora will open the 2019 Southeast Indiana Racing Circuit (SIRC-it) 5-race summer series this Saturday, July 13.

Serving as the long-runnign series opener for the first time ever, the fund-raising event for the Knights' boys and girls cross country teams starts at 8:30 a.m. at series sponsor Weber Sports, 238 Main Street.

The Knight Flight 5K course winds through historic Aurora, down to Lesko Park to race along the scenic Ohio River before returning to finish downtown.

Race day registration, which begins at 7:30 a.m. July 13 at Aurora City Hall, across from Weber Sports, will be $25, including a t-shirt, while supplies last, or $20 without the t-shirt.

Knight Flight 5K Run awards go to the overall male and female winners, with medals to a minimum of the top two finishers in each male and female age group, including 12 & Under, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64 and 65 & Over.

5K Walk medals will be presented to the top five overall finishers.

The Southeastern Indiana Racing Circuit is a series of five races run in Southeastern Indiana which supports cross country programs at local schools.

Runners and walkers who participate in four of five SIRC races get their name entered in a drawing for cash prizes at the series finale, Batesville's 19th annual Bulldog Chase 5K Saturday, Aug. 10.

East Central's Trojan Trot 5K marks the second leg of the 2019 SIRC-it series Saturday, July 20, at St. Leon American Legion Post 464.

Brookville's 10th annual Lakeside 5K follows Saturday, July 27, at Franklin County High School, with Milan's Indian Trails 5K Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Milan Elementary School.
