LAKESIDE 5K SATURDAY AT BROOKVILLE

BROOKVILLE - The 10th annual Lakeside 5K Run/Walk continues as the third leg of the 2019 Southeast Indiana Racing Circuit (SIRC-it) 5-race summer series this Saturday, July 27.

A fund-raiser event for the Wildcats' boys and girls cross country teams starts at 8:30 a.m. at Franklin County High School, 1 Wildcat Lane.

The 3.1-mile road race follows a circuit that offers a spectacular view of the Brookville Lake and town of Brookville, starting and finishing next to the FCHS gym.

Race day registration runs from 7:15 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. and will be $25, including an official race t-shirt, while supplies last, or $20 without the t-shirt.

For safety reasons, no pets will be allowed on the course during the race.

5K Run awards go to the overall male and female winners, plus awards for the top three finishers in each male and female age group, including 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 & Over. All participants in the 11 & Under age group will receive finisher medals.

5K Walk medals will be presented to the top 3 male and female finishers.

The Lakeside 5K course starts at the high school gym before turning left onto Wildcat Lane, then goes right onto Ind. 101 before proceeding to the Brookville Dam entrance.

It turns left at the dam entrance and proceeds up and across the dam and back, retracing the route right onto Ind. 101 and left onto Wildcat Lane, turning right at the second road after the school gate to the finish.

The Southeastern Indiana Racing Circuit is a series of five races run in Southeastern Indiana which supports cross country programs at local schools.

Runners and walkers who participate in four of five SIRC races get their name entered in a drawing for cash prizes at the series finale, Batesville's 19th annual Bulldog Chase 5K Saturday, Aug. 10.

The 2019 SIRC-it continues with Milan's Indian Trails 5K Run/Walk Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Milan Elementary School.
