MAXWELL'S 20 LEADS EC IN SEASON OPENER

AURORA - Sophomore Kyla Maxwell opened East Central's girls basketball season with a career-high 20 points as the Lady Trojans posted a 65-28 win at South Dearborn Wednesday night.

East Central football will see red when it travels to Edgewood's Mustang Corral for Friday night's Class 4A Sectional 23 championship game.

The start of the 2018-19 girls basketball season finds East Central’s 6’3” All-State center/forward Alyssa Robben sidelined with a kneecap injury she suffered in July.

Pressed into duty as an EC freshman last year due to a plethora of injuries, guard/forward Kyla Maxwell quickly became a key contributor in the Lady Trojans' basketball lineup.

EC GIRLS BATTLING INJURIES AGAIN

ST. LEON - East Central girls basketball almost lost program-building head coach Kevin Moore (139-65) in the summer prior to his 10th season with the Lady Trojans.

East Central High School junior varsity volleyball defeated Batesville 2-1 (25-22, 16-25, 15-9) to capture the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference JV Tournament championship Saturday, Oct. 6, at Franklin County. Coach Debbie Gregg's Lady Trojan reserve crew capped its season at 22-10, including a 10-4 run vs. EIAC rivals. They are, first row, from left: Hope Fox, Casey House and Faith Fox.
